Business, Contract and Transaction Counsel for Bothell Companies
Jeanette Bowers Weaver has advised Bothell-area businesses on contracts, ownership and transactions since she was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1997. She represents companies from Canyon Park and North Creek to downtown Bothell, Mill Creek and Woodinville, serving as a hands-on business attorney for owners who want practical answers and a lawyer who knows their company.
Bothell’s economy spans both sides of the King–Snohomish county line. It includes long-established local firms, a revitalized downtown, and a concentration of technology and life sciences companies in the Canyon Park and North Creek business parks. Those businesses share a common need: contracts, ownership documents and employment practices that hold up as the company grows, changes hands or brings on partners.
What Sets Jeanette’s Practice Apart
Jeanette meets personally with every new client before any work begins, so her advice fits the business in front of her rather than a template. Clients work with her directly from the first call through closing.
- Washington practice since 1997, focused on business contracts, corporate matters and transactions.
- A team approach when it helps. On larger matters, she coordinates with your CPA, financial advisor and technical experts so legal and tax decisions are made together.
- Fixed-fee options. Many services are available for a flat fee agreed in advance, and fees can be structured around your preference.
- Meetings that fit your schedule. Jeanette meets clients at their place of business or at an executive suite near Bothell along the I-405 corridor.
Legal Support at Every Stage of Your Business
Starting a Business
The decisions made at formation are the hardest to undo later. Jeanette helps founders choose between an LLC and a corporation, prepares operating agreements, bylaws and founder or shareholder agreements, and sets up the documents needed to bring on investors or partners. She can also guide new businesses through Washington state registration and the City of Bothell’s general business license.
Running and Growing a Business
As operations expand, so does contract exposure. Jeanette drafts, reviews and negotiates the agreements Bothell companies use every day:
- Customer, vendor and supplier contracts
- Licensing, development and distribution agreements
- Commercial lease review
- Independent contractor and consulting agreements
- Employment agreements, offer letters and workplace policies
- Confidentiality, trade secret and non-solicitation agreements
She also serves as outside general counsel for companies that need a regular attorney without the cost of an in-house legal department.
Partnerships, Joint Ventures and Governance
Co-owner disagreements are among the most expensive problems a closely held business can face. Jeanette documents decision-making authority, capital contributions and buy-sell terms up front, and structures joint ventures and strategic alliances so each party’s rights and exit options are clear.
Buying or Selling a Business
For purchase and sale agreements, mergers and acquisitions, Jeanette represents both buyers and sellers. She handles letters of intent, due diligence, deal documents and closing, with attention to purchase price adjustments, representations and warranties, and indemnification. Planning for What Comes Next
Owners need a plan for the business if they retire, become incapacitated or pass away. Jeanette combines buy-sell planning with estate planning, including wills and trusts, so ownership transfers the way you intend.
A Note for Bothell Employers: Washington’s Noncompete Ban
Starting June 30, 2027, Washington law voids nearly all noncompete agreements with employees and independent contractors, including agreements signed years ago. Employers must notify affected workers by October 1, 2027. Carefully drafted non-solicitation, confidentiality and trade secret agreements remain permitted. Bothell’s technology and life sciences employers that rely on noncompetes should review their agreements now. Contact Jeanette for a review.
Communities Served
Jeanette represents businesses throughout Bothell, including downtown Bothell, Canyon Park, North Creek and Thrasher’s Corner, and in nearby Mill Creek, Woodinville, Kenmore, Kirkland, Brier and Lynnwood. She also serves clients across the Eastside and in downtown Seattle.
